1000 years of Knutsford History

“For any child, life remains a sea full of rich experiences just waiting to be explored”
Nathan Grendelman

To commemorate 1000 years of Knutsford history we have been sharing information with our children about King Canute, who is Knutsford’s namesake and a Viking. This has led to lots of teaching opportunities for the children. As part of this experience we took a trip into Knutsford.

The children had made their own versions of Rune writing which is going to be displayed in the trees on the Moor in Knutsford to mark the celebration, we wrote in the memory book and then walked to Knutsford Library where the library were hosting stories and creative activities for children.

Following on from this the children have been making Viking flags and masks. They have also been looking at different boats and clothing that Viking’s wore.
